Victoria Police have released images and are seeking public assistance to identify a man described as Indian in appearance, following an alleged upskirting incident on a Melbourne tram.
The offence is reported to have occurred on the Route 70 tram travelling through Docklands just before midnight on October 25. According to investigators, a woman in her 40s was travelling with a friend when another passenger noticed a man, described as Indian, filming up the woman’s skirt with his mobile phone.
After being alerted, the woman’s friend confronted the man. Police state he was forced to delete the video before alighting on Flinders Street.
Detectives have now released a digital composite and a photograph of the man they wish to identify. In their appeal, police provided a specific description, stating, “He is perceived to be Indian in appearance, aged late 30s to early 40s with short black hair, solid build and was wearing a denim jacket with a white sheep skin collar.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
